Behind the publication 02
Complaints and corrections
Accuracy matters more than speed: when something published here is wrong, it is corrected visibly, never silently.

At a glance
- Complaints are made by email, with a few key details.
- Corrections fix errors. Updates add new information. Both are dated.
- Pieces are not quietly removed.
- Private complaints are not published automatically.
- Complaints can be reviewed again on request.
- Legal rights are unaffected.
Making a complaint
Email hello@deafmetrix.com with:
- the number or address of the piece;
- the sentence or detail in question;
- what is inaccurate or unfair about it;
- any evidence that supports the correction.
Sensitive personal information is not needed to make a complaint and is best left out.
What happens next
The aim is to acknowledge every complaint within three working days and to send a full response within ten working days. Where more time is needed, the reason is explained and a new date given. These are aims rather than guarantees.
Corrections and updates
Where a factual error is confirmed, the piece is corrected and a dated correction note is added at its foot, saying what changed. Where new information arrives that does not show an error, such as a later statement, it is added as a dated update.
Where the matter is one of opinion rather than fact, the basis of the opinion is explained, and a response may be added to the piece. Pieces are not removed quietly.
Privacy of complaints
A complaint is a private message. It is not published, and the complainant is not named, unless they agree. Where a correction results, the note describes what changed rather than who asked.
Right of reply
An organisation named in a piece may send a response at any time, including after publication. It will be added to the piece or summarised fairly within it.
Asking for a review
Anyone unhappy with the outcome can ask for it to be looked at again by replying to the response. The complaint is then reviewed afresh within DeafMetrix Ltd.
Complaints about personal information
A complaint about how personal information has been used, including information in a published piece, follows a separate legal procedure. It goes to hello@deafmetrix.com with the subject line "Data protection complaint". It is acknowledged within 30 days, investigated appropriately, and the complainant is kept updated and told the outcome without undue delay.
The full procedure and the route to the Information Commissioner's Office are in the privacy notice.
